 Necromancy(Rounta and maybe Razi)
« Thread Started on Aug 14, 2007, 4:10pm »

BattoJin stood in front of a hooded figure in black robes. This human, as BattoJin decided he was sense he had no demonic aura, had approached him from behind and held a sharp dagger in its hand.

"Demon! Give me your blood, so that I may become a god!" The specter yelled at him. As it did it raised its hand in the air and summoned a purple mist. From it came skeletons, and zombies, and all manner of other fowl, undead creatures.

"Oh, give you my blood?" BattoJin repeated raising his eyebrow. BattoJin easily cut down the summoned undead with his claws. He then severed the man's arm from his torso. Gripping the mans robe and slamming him against a tree BattoJin stared menacingly at him.

"I'm intrigued human... what do you mean "become a god"?" BattoJin asked in a way that made it seem like he wouldn't kill the human after he knew what he wanted.

"A Lich you fool!" The man scoffed, half laughing.

"And what is a Lich?" BattoJin inquired interested.

"HA! You'll get no more from this necromancer!" As the man spoke he slit his own throat with the dagger he was holding.

BattoJin dropped the corpse disappointedly. The man had sparked some interest in BattoJin, and though he wouldn't tell BattoJin what he wanted to know, BattoJin knew someone who might.

Traveling into the northern territory BattoJin came upon the castle of the demon lord, Rounta. Walking through the woods toward the castle BattoJin watched the many creatures who lived in Rounta's territory. Finally he came to a large gate and stopped.

"ROUNTA!" He shouted to the castle.

"ARE YOU HERE?" He again shouted toward the castle, after which he stood, waiting for an answer.

The druids at the gate gave a quick glance to BattoJin. They knew him as one of the demon lords and opened the gate without a second thought. The thick gates slowly swung open, revealing Rounta, walking calmly towards the fellow demon lord. His demonic aura flashed as he dropped his human illusion, seeming to shift into his full demon form. It was always more comfortable not having to use the illusion all the time; But.. he had his reasons.

A soft green glow followed him as he walked to the gate, giving a small dip of his head, welcoming BattoJin inside. "What's the occasion, BattoJin?" The shaman could sense a bit of eagerness in BattoJin's voice. A rarity for when he was usually calm and cold.

BattoJin walked quickly, and eagerly toward Rounta with open arms.

"It's always a pleasure Rounta, but I've come to ask you something." BattoJin said walking into the gate with Rounta. BattoJin always wondered at Rounta's territory. It was, most certainly, the exact opposite of BattoJin's.

"Tell me Rounta, what do you know of Liches?" BattoJin asked his fellow demon lord. BattoJin knew that, as a shamen, Rounta was bound to know what the stranger he had met was talking about. After all, he was famed as the greatest shamen in the world.

Rakurai sat a bit aways from the two demon lords. A ripped teddy was in her lap; black and white strips of cloth in her hand, and a needle in the other. Black string was looped through the small hole of the needle, so it was pretty clear what Razi was doing.

A couple times she pricked her finger with the needle, only flinching when she did so. The shardless Teddy was getting an upgrade, now that the neko could sew better. But it seemed to be only three fingered hands for this time around.

Rakurai folded her ears back at the next prick, eavesdropping on the converstation between the two demon lords. Though, she did continue working on sewing her teddy bear, so it seamed sshe wasn't paying attention at all to the two.

Once BattoJin was clear of the gate, the druids shut them with the same speed as they had opened them, before returning to their posts. Rounta's eyes narrowed a bit at the mention of "lich". He took on a pensive look, rubbing at his jawline some. "A Lich, eh..?" He hadn't encountered many. He didn't actively seek them, either. They were dangerous to find, and even more dangerous to escape when they wanted your life. Not to say he hadn't killed one, but it was no easy task, even for a demon lord.

"A Lich starts out the same as me or you.. but they have a greed. They want power and immortality. They seek to shed their mortal body to give up such needs as eating, sleeping, and the like.. Some just become undead through dark magic, making them no longer susceptible to sleep, or any diseases or poisons. They can't be killed if they're already dead.."

He paused for a moment, mulling his thoughts over, before he continued. "But, the Lich Kings. They are the true threats out there. The only difference between them and a normal Lich, is that they have removed something important, their soul. They then create.. how to say this.. an 'anchor' to this world. Any object of great importance to them, be it living or non-living, can be used as an anchor. If the Lich King dies, he simply regenerates with a new body, his anchor keeping him tied to this world."

Rounta figured he'd covered most of the important things about Liches. Except, he'd left out how to become one. The shaman glanced over at Razi, giving a sad sigh at her dead little friend. The enemies were always so merciless to her pet. Saddening. The shaman turned his attention back to BattoJin. " You're not planning to fight one, are ya? "

BattoJin continued walking while he listened to Rounta. This was all very interesting to him.

"No, I fought with a strange man earlier today. He wore all black robes and summoned countless forms of the undead to fight for him. Before I killed him he said that he needed my blood to become a Lich. I was simply curious about it that's all." BattoJin explained to Rounta. He knew Rounta, if anything, was the wisest of the demon lords. That's why he came to Rounta first if he needed information.

Razi sighed and cut off the excess string from her teddy bear. She was eavesdropping on the conversation, yes, but she didn't know the devilish creature inside of her was as well. The neko twitched, then freaked out when she heard an unfamilliar laughter within her head. She looked around trying to figure out what it was, having no idea it was the beast.

Ah so a Lich has entered the zone, hmm? The thing's laughter sounded again in Rakurai's head. And again the neko freaked out. She twitched, hoping the two didn't see, and tried to ignore it.
Once I stop using these damn Yoarshi seeds' bodies.. hehe. I'll put these stupid Liches and Lich kings to an end. If I can ever get through though...

Rounta took a glance at Razi. She did seem to be acting a little funny.. but he dismissed it for now. He had a present for her later, anyway. He focused his thoughts back onto what BattoJin said. "Yes... if the man wanted you become a Lich, he would need your blood. Or any powerful demon's blood. One can only become a Lich through being already powerful, or by getting the life blood of one who is powerful. Too bad the man was foolish enough to just confront you head on. As I say.. Arrogance is damn close to masochism. "

Arrogance could only cause one outcome in Rounta's eyes: weakness. Being weaker, you were more likely to die; thus, masochistic, the idea of getting pleasure from feeling pain and possibly dying. Rounta tilted his head some, popping his neck a bit. He gave a slight sigh of relief, before he asked BattoJin. " The study of Liches is an interesting one, but it is fairly pointless. If one is truely powerful, they'd need not have to worry about death. Becoming a Lich is just a crutch, unless someone thought of a new way to use it. "

Rounta studied all types of magic, but if there was one he didn't like studying, it was the dark magic. True, it was powerful, but many always trod upon the path of darkness and came to unfortunate ends. Rounta wasn't the most deadly of the demon lords, but he surely had the highest survivability, and wise in the history and uses of magic. However, with the dangerous position as Demon lord, he had found an apprentice to carry on his knowledge, should he bite the dirt and not get back up.

"Hm.... May I use your library?" BattoJin inquired. He wanted to study these "liches" more thoroughly and he knew that Rounta's library would be the best place to start. Combined with his own library would probably consist of every written document ever made.

"What school of magic would you say has the most information on liches?" He added at the last second.

Razi stood. She passed off the laughter as her imagination. She gripped her teddy bear slightly tighter then before, then loosened her grip once a third laughter wasn't heard. The neko let out a soft sigh of releif. Maybe it was just my immagination.. She thought. She still had no clue of the hellspawn. Razi handed over the rest of the peices of cloths to a druid, who simply just took them away.

Rounta gave a nod to BattoJin, replying. "Certainly." Rounta must have called one of his druids to them somehow. The druid would be there to lead BattoJin to the library. The druids were a spawn of nature and Rounta's magic, so it wasn't very suprising to see that he had some remote control over them.

It didn't take Rounta long to tell BattoJin what school the Lich was under. "Shadow magic, Necromancy, and if you're really searching for every aspect, there should be some stuff about it if you look for Rituals of Blood. Hope you find what you seek. " Rituals of Blood were basically ceremonies to change one's body and soul. Liches were included in this. He gave BattoJin a light bow of his head, before he let the demon lord get to business reading.

Turning, he walked towards Razi, watching one of his druids carrying away strips of cloth. That bear really was having a tough time staying alive. The demon lord held a hand out to Razi, crimson eyes gazing down pensively at his apprentice. " Let me see him. " Rounta's shamanic aura picked up some. He wanted to see Teddy for a moment.

BattoJin returned Rounta's nod as he followed the druid to Rounta's Library. For the next couple of weeks BattoJin traveled between his own library and Rounta's, studying many different books and scrolls on Necromancy.

As it turned out, Necromancy was one of the main schools of magic used by humans, but was outlawed thousands of years ago as a "sin against nature". Its principles were similar to the way BattoJin controlled those who he fed on. Apparently liches were the highest and most praised form of Necromancy. It seemed that there were many legends surrounding them, but they all seemed to contradict themselves on how one went about actually becoming a lich.

After many weeks of study the stories about liches, or "liche", which seemed to be the more appropriate spelling of the word, he found that to become one of the liche one must place their soul in a container capable of containing their magical power. Then, they would wait a week or so, during which they had to keep the object on their person, after which they could either smash the object, and become a licher, or keep the object, and become one of the liche, or Lich Kings. It seemed that only beings of "god like" magical power could become a liche, but there was still to little information to confirm it.

Finally, BattoJin discovered an old tome in the back of Rounta's library. It had the words "Necronomicon Ex Mortis" scrolled across its spine in an ancient language. As BattoJin read it he could feel the book giving off a magical power not unlike his own. It seemed to hold all of the secrets of Necromancy within its pages. On its final chapter it spoke of the liche, and how their bodies were not bound by any limits and could hold infinite magical energy. Combine with old journals and such BattoJin had managed to uncover the liche's secrets.

It seemed that as long as the vessel to which the the liche's soul was bound stayed in tact they could never die, but If the vessel were smashed or destroyed they would lose their ability to control lesser liches and would be able to die like any other creature. The more BattoJin thought about it the more he found the existence of a liche more favorable, but he wouldn't want to be so vulnerable as to have to protect his vessel. BattoJin was clever though, if he could somehow use his own body as hit vessel, or something indestructible, he would be invincible.

It had been six weeks sense he had started and now, carrying the Necronomicon, he stood and left the library. As he left he walked around Rounta's castle until he found Rounta.

"Rounta, I'm leaving. Thank you for letting me use your library. I'm going to barrow this book if you don't mind." BattoJin said showing Rounta the book before leaving.
