Name: Yuudai Shima
Age: 92, appears to be in his early twenties
Blood: Skunk Youkai
Family alive: Mother, and seventeen younger silbings.
Mate: n/a
Offspring: n/a
Appearance:
Yuudai is a tall and somewhat lanky man who's signature characteristic is his black skin-- No, not dark brown, or extremely tanned, but charcoal black. Ebony, onyx, jet -- pure black. Even the palms of his hands, bottoms of his feet and lips are the same solid colour. This brings a lot of attention to his pale amethyst eyes and lengthy, pearly-white hair, which is held back by a long maroon bandage. His hands an forearms are cosidered as more animal than Humanoid. In fact, the only thing 'Human' about them is the way the phalanges are placed. Otherwise, they are very much like an animal's claws, richly coated in glossy white fur, hitting just a few inches bellow the elbow. This creates the illusion that his hands are disproportionately large for his body, when in reality, it's the fur than makes them seem bulky. His feet are the same way, which enables him to travel about barefoot. Above his eyes are two thick white eyebrows.
His attire consists of a short-sleeved hauberk that hits just below the thigh, and rusty-red kimono trousers. There's a whole right above his backside to free a bushy black tail with two white stripes.
Personality:
Tranquil and gentle, Yuudai hates fighting and sees violence as the lowest means for solving anything. Though once a fighter himself, he refuses to exploit any of his skills unless absolutely necessary. He is a being of words and common sense, rather than blood-lust and recklessness. Having brought up many younger siblings, he tends to be fatherly and extremely mature despite his youthfull characteristics.
Though his character is not completely colourless. He tends to use these qualities as a means to tease those who are excessively violent, rather than nag at them for being as such. In fact, unless he has completely snapped, he will never raise or harden his voice. It's always light and seemingly carefree, with a pleasantly ironic touch. It's his placid, yet mildly sarcastic play on words that demands respect, rather than firmness or intimidation.
Powers and Weapons:
His weapon inventory consists of two naginata, held by a leather belt at his waist, and crossing behind his back with the blades pointing towards the ground. They are rarely used, so they still have that pearly sheen of a newly forged weapon. The only armrour he has is the hauberk. Even though he only fights as a last resort, he is incredibly skilled with his nagiata, and possesses such a natural grace that they seem to be a part of him.
His 'powers' stop at being able to release a certain mist from his pores that can momentarily blind anyone that comes within it's ten-meter radius. He, on the other hand is immuned to it. Though it doesn't have to swell around him. He can easily direct it at whoever he wants without hurting anyone else. This is his most commonly used defence mechanism-- and it tends to be very effective. He may have others, though he has never really developed them, so they remain unknown and uncared for.
Brief History:
Yuudai was born to a contradictory, yet paradoxically common couple. His father was a rough, hardened warrior that wanted nothing more than the same for his first born son. He was a hunter, a fighter... one who would kill either for his own benefit or simply because he had been given orders to do so. As a parental figure, he was brutally harsh on his offspring, especially the five males... and Yuudai recieved the worst of his lashings. At a tender age, Yuudai had been exposed to extreme physical training, most of which were dreadfully painful and resulted in many broken bones more times than not. His character had not been fully developed by then, and at that age (as most boys are), he was lost without his father. Thus he obeyed, no questions asked, despite the immense agony.
His mother was the complete opposite. Kind, aggravatingly gentle and very sumbissive. She would never take a stand against her husband, and let him put her children through that torture without protest. And that's what gave Father Shima the carte-blanche.
As Yuudai was the oldest of them all, he was the first one to join his father in his violent endeavours. Of course, he always questioned the reason behind all this madness, to which he was never able to elicit an answer. He would fight, kill, hunt -- all with guilt and shame, though being brought up by a warlord, and with fighting being the sole core of his up bringing, he did not know of any other path or purpose. And then, one day, while on another one of his fathers ridiculous 'missions', Yuudai witnessed his father being ripped to shreds by a frighteningly powerful demon whose name he cannot remember for the life of him. Though he was devistated at the moment, he couldn't help but feel that his father deserved to die such a gruesome death, and was not fazed by his father's passing for too long.
His mother, on the other hand, was scarred. With the eighteenth child just born, and the rest asking for her guidance, she just could not cope. This is when Yuudai filled in the position of his father, albeit using a MUCH different approach. It remained as such for a little less than fourty years, until his mother grew ill. His siblings are much older now and can fend for themselves, which granted him the freedom to search for an antidote.
